Alabama Wedding #1 - Yellowhammer Bird (Yellow) Wedding

"The Yellowhammer (Emberiza Citrinella) is a passerine bird in the bunting family Emberizidae. It is common in all sorts of open areas with some scrub or trees and form small flocks in winter" (Yellowhammer).
The yellowhammer bird is the official bird of Alabama and is a beautiful bird. A great theme and colour scheme to work with.

The Flowers:
Nice flowers are calla lilies and orchids. They come in a verity of colours and are beautiful in yellow. White and black go well with yellow but for a wedding theme that is solely yellow black would overwhelm the yellow.

The Dress:
For this wedding a nice plan and simple dress would be a great option. The Yellowhammer bird is nothing special but is beautiful by nature, a great way to highlight the bride's nature beauty would be to do the same with the wedding dress. Something simple doesn't mean dull, a beautiful dress doesn't need sparkles or embroidery or colour even.

The Shoes:
The dress above is not quite floor length so a nice shoe is needed. Something that would catch the eye of guests and something that is comfortable for the bride also. A nice pair of shoes are the Touch Up Jodi (454) Shoes. They are plan sandals but they have a beautiful accent in the middle that sparkles and makes them so unique.

Hair, Make Up, Accessories:
With a dress that has straps, or that is off the shoulder a nice choice for hair styles is an up-do. Matched with something simple in the hair, or a veil, a nice simple up-do would be perfect. A nice necklace for this wedding since it is representing the state would be the Alabama State Pendant from Personalized-Jewelry.com.

Invitations:
Naturally the colour scheme for this wedding is yellow, but there has also been a simplicity theme in the wedding. So for the invitation sticking with yellow and simple would be a nice way to go. The Vine Wedding Set in Yellow is a perfect options, it has the invitations, the Enclosed Card, and the RSVP Card.

Ceremony:
A wonderful place for both the ceremony and reception would be Southern House and Gardens  They have ten different packages to choose from and they cater on site. They have beautiful grounds and specialize in weddings. That means that they personally can help any couple plan their wedding and they have a lot of experience.

Some couples like to have programs for their ceremony. This would include any readings, who the wedding party is, sometimes who the parents of the bride and groom are, and any other little information. They are never more than two pages but the bride and groom can choose to add whatever they want to theme.

The Rings:
Beautiful options for the rings are yellow diamonds. The most famous yellow diamond would be the Tiffany Yellow Diamond, it is simply stunning. For wedding rings it is a beautiful choice and it stands out as an unusual gem.

The Reception:
The Southern House and Gardens grounds are a perfect place to have a reception. They have a beautiful barn that can be the backdrop for any dinner reception or the barn can be used for the whole reception. The grounds are absolutely amazing and a great place to take pictures also.

The perfect guest book for this reception would be the Alabama art print it is the shape of the state in white on a beautiful background. The guests can sign all around the state and even in the state if the extra room is needed.

The Food:
If the couple chooses to go with any place catered, they will have a menu to choose from. If they don't or the couple has to give ideas on what food they would like to have at their wedding, a nice buffet style meal would be a good option. Most weddings have a meal served around 11 pm or midnight so having a big heavy meal isn't always needed and can get costly. A buffet style meal also saves on place cards and a seating arrangement because it won't matter who is sitting where. The couple can choose to put Menus on each table or just place them on the serving table so the guests know what their options are, but it isn't really needed. Great options for a buffet would be a nice Grilled Potato Salad, a Three Bean Salad, and maybe some kind of Macaroni Salad, some Coleslaw, and a few different types of hot and cold Sandwiches. Sandwiches likes a Reuben Sandwich, Easy BBQ Chicken Sandwich, and Mini Man Burgers (Sliders), other great options are cold sandwiches too like Egg Salad Sandwiches and/or a Chicken Salad Sandwich (#45). A nice assortment of desserts for this wedding would be Lemon White Chocolate Bars, Lemon Butter Cookies, White Chocolate Macadamia Bars, and Glazed Doughnut Muffins.

The Cake:
For the cake for this wedding a nice option would be a Butter Cake. The cake is neutral so the filling and fondant give it the flavour. The bride and groom can choose whatever flavour they want for the filling without changing the colour of the cake. A great serving set that is not very traditional would be this Beaded Wedding Cake Serving Set.

The Centerpieces:
Fruits are always a great way to add colour to any wedding centerpiece. A vase with yellow lemons in it would be perfect for this wedding. Adding flowers also would make it that much more special and beautiful, however it would also drive up the cost. Either way, with or without the flowers it is a beautiful choice for a yellow centerpiece.

Thank You Cards:
Thank You Cards don't always have to match the invitations, sometimes the invitations don't come with matching Thank You cards, and sometimes the bride and groom decide to send pictures from their wedding or honeymoon as a thank you instead. The picture thank you cards are always a nice personal touch but sometimes the bride and groom like to write a little message in their card and choose to send both.

Places to See:
Alabama isn't really famous for any particular landmarks, but there are a lot of beautiful things to see and a lot of wonderful places to tour. The Brimingham Zoo welcomed a new Giraffe to their family in January of 2014 and they have many beautiful animals to see and learn about. Brimingham also has a Civil Rights Institute, a Botanical Garden, and a Museum of Art. The Alabama State Capitol is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the First Confederate Capitol. The capitol of Alabama is Montgomery and it has a beautiful State Capitol Building ontop of Capitol Hill. Alabama has a lot of historic places and great American places to see like the U.S Space and Rocket Center, Fort Morgan, The United States Space Camp, and Battleship Memorial Park where the USS Alabama can be seen. Other interesting things to visit would be the Alabama Theater, Cheaha Mountain, and the Edmund Pettus Bridge.
