Nevada Wedding #3 - Elvis (Blue and White) Wedding

An ''Elvis Wedding'' doesn't have to be the cheesy stereotype that it usually is. For this wedding it can be held anywhere. Getting married at a chapel on The Strip and than holding the ceremony out of the way a little could turn an ''Elvis'' themed wedding into a beautiful thing that may never have been associated with an ''Elvis Wedding'', or a Vegas wedding for that matter. The colour scheme for this wedding has to be white and blue for Elvis's blue swede shoes. (Any other colours would be fine as well, however if ever a colour was associated with ''The King'' it definitely was blue.)

(Photo provided by: Elvis Postcards)

Flowers:
Roses are beautiful, and elegant and come in many different colours. Blue and white roses work beautifully for an Elvis wedding. A blue rose with baby's breath would work well as a boutonniere, and white roses with blue ribbons would work well as corsages.

The Dress:
In Vegas, the wedding dresses are usually on the shorter side. Nevada is relatively hot so a thick long dress would be very warm to get married in. Strapless would work really well also with a shall for later on in the evening if it gets cool. An a-line princess strapless sweetheart empire waist Knee-length beaded embroidery romantic silhouette of flowing chiffon wedding dress would be beautiful and from Flash Bridal it can be affordable too.

The Shoes:
With a short dress, any shoe works well especially heels. A nice sandal with a heel on it would be great for the bride, and her bridal party if she chooses to have one. How high of a heel would depend on the bride and her bride's maid(s), and what they are comfortable in. Blue would go well with the white dress and it makes a bold statement along with being ''something blue''.

Make up, hair, nails and accessories:
Veils aren't always worn in Vegas weddings, but any veil should be short. Long hair is great with short veils and inn Vegas it doesn't have to be anything special, something simple that looks pulled together like Carry Underwood's look in this picture. Blue finger and toe nails in any design would match great but a beautiful design is one that looks like the night sky with little flecks of white. For make up, being natural is always beautiful but a blue eye shadow, shaded with white looks great and makes the eyes pop. A nice white gold or silver necklace with blue sapphires and matching earrings would be beautiful, a long hanging necklace with a strapless dress is best because it takes away from home much skin is being shown. And finally, for a wedding, a bride need's a garter (or garters)!

The Groom:
The groom is simple to buy for, all he needs is a black suit, and a white shirt, and a tie that matches the theme. Indochino has custom suits for men and they are great quality. Coupled with a cobalt blue tie any suit would be perfect for this wedding. And of course, Elvis cufflinks for the groom and his men!

The Invitations:
Wedding invitations could be any invitation with a blue and white theme. It is hard to find wedding invitations that revolve around icons, so finding invitations dedicated to Elvis could be next to impossible, unless a couple chooses to make their own. For the purpose of this wedding white and blue invitations or invitations with different shades of blue would work best.

Photographer and Videographer:
Artistic Imaging is highly recommended and does beautiful work. They offer many examples of their work on their website and they not only do photography but they offer videography as well, both for reasonable prices. Depending on where the couple decides to get married, the wedding chapel may offer photography and videography deals of their own, chances are that it would be cheaper to take photos and video from the chapel instead of booking photographers and videographers for the reception and ceremony.

Ceremony:
For an Elvis themed wedding, what better place to get married than Graceland Chapel. They have many packages to choose from, and all of them involve getting married by The King of Rock N' Roll himself, Elvis Presley. (Most hotels in Las Vegas offer some kind of Elvis wedding theme package, so there are many options out there.)The blue and white theme make buying wedding rings simple. . . Go with sapphires and diamonds for the woman, and a white gold ring with a sapphire stone for the man And once married why not drive off in a pink Cadillac. .

(Graceland Chapel)

Reception:
The best guest book for this wedding has to be hands down a vinyl record with an Elvis label in the middle. Guests can take a white marker, or silver, and sign their names on the record and any well wishes they have to offer, and the bride and groom get the black case that goes with it, and they can hang it in their home.

Money boxes, or wishing wells, for cards are easy to make and can save a couple a lot of money. It's as simple as getting a box, and cutting a hole on top (or getting a box where this is already done). Finding paper or fabric, or material that matches the theme and covering the box, re-cut the hole and boom the box is ready for any wedding. Adding a little cut out figure of Elvis that say his iconic saying, "Thank you, thank you very much," and putting it on or around the box would complete the look. Table numbers and name tags are easy to make too, finding a nice paper that matches the theme like the one used for the money box, and printing numbers out, or gluing numbers on to them and than framing them would work well or a little stand at the bottom works well also. Another great idea is ordering post card forms and framing them as well as long as the post cards match the theme.

An absolutely beautiful place for a wedding reception that isn't over thrown by the ''Vegas'' feel, would be one at the Ravella Hotel. It offers a chapel should the couple choose to get married there and beautiful reception venues to suit any size party. It is always a good idea to hold a reception in a hotel, that way the couple and their guests can drink and party and not worry about guests walking back to their individual hotels. They also offer references for DJs, decorators and everything else needed for a wedding.

Food:
The Ravella Hotel offers many different options food wise, from hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, plated dinners, dinner buffets, and a reception style wedding menu of both hot and cold food. The also offer many different desserts and dessert stations and will take care of a wedding cake should the couple ask. A great dessert for the daring couple would be peanut butter, bacon, banana ''sandwich'' cookies. Elvis was known for his weird taste in sandwiches and what better way to incorporate the theme into the food than to let the guest have a chance to eat his signature sandwich. Take any peanut butter cookie recipe (1 cup unsalted butter, 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup packed brown sugar, 2 eggs, 2 1/2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt) and add 2-3 slices of cooked bacon chopped. Roll the dough into a log, and push in the middle of roll to cause the look of a bread loaf. Refridgerate for 1 hour and than cup squares and bake for 15-20 minutes at 350. Once the cookies have cooked, cut one banana in slices and sandwich the slices between two cookies (or mash up one whole banana with 1 teaspoon of sugar and spread).

The Cake:
Now of days a lot of couples choose to have cupcakes instead of a wedding cake. If they choose to cut the cake, some couples have one tire of cake on top of a stand and the other layers filled with cupcakes. A great option for an Elvis wedding is Blue Suede (Red velvet died blue) Cupcakes! Most bakers have a red velvet recipe, but they are simple too make and can be made the night before by a bride's maid, or anyone that enjoys baking.

(Photo from: Blue Buddies)

The recipe is simple:
1 stick of butter, softened (not melted)
1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons of blue food colouring
2 tablespoons of cocoa
1 cup of buttermilk
(or regular milk with a teaspoon of vinegar and set side)
2 1/4 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 teaspoon of baking soda

Cream Cheese frosting:
250g of Cream Cheese (1 cup)
1/4 cup of butter softened
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 cup of powdered sugar
(anything granular will make the frosting have a sand like consistency)

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes.

If the couple does choose to make one tire a wedding cake, this cupcake works perfectly fine as a cake also. Any white and blue serving set and champagne glass set would work fine with this wedding, Weddings By Minali Design has a beautiful navy and white set or a damask and turquoise set. For an Elvis wedding, what better to have on top of the cake than an Elvis cake topper. (A couple standing in front of an Elvis figure would work just as well if the couple wants a tradition figure topping.)

Guest Favours:
With a theme like Elvis, the best guest favour a couple can give out has to be personalized CDs. It is easy for anyone with a computer to create CDs by burning their favourite songs, or using their wedding songs for their CD. Especially if they choose to use Elvis songs for first dance and other important moments. There are programs to create personalized labels for the CDs and there are websites that offer to personalize the labels in bulk for the couple. Adding a thank you sticker, or a hand written thank you on the envelope of the CD and closing it with a sticker of the couples initials would complete the gift perfectly. For the wedding party gifts, these always depend on the person, however for mother and father of the bride and groom something that says not only thank you for this day but than you for this life is a great gift. Also, a great gift for the woman would be paying for their the bride's maid dressmother of the bride dressmother of the groom dress or jewelry or shoes; something that would save them money.

Centerpieces:
Flower and water centerpieces are always very popular so coupling them together as one is a great idea and makes an amazing centerpiece. By simply gluing any flower (real or fake) to a rock or something similar that will sink, any flower can be submerged in water, also adding plastic waterproof candles can make the centerpieces more luminous and by adding sparkling water, or any clear soda would make bubbles in the water and attach to the flower, dying the water with food colouring, blue in this case, also makes the centerpieces more wedding theme friendly.

Thank You Cards:
Thank you cards are a great personal touch and is an opportunity to show the guest wedding photos by sending them with the card. Also, adding hand written messages and including a special thank you for their specific gift also makes the card more special.

Places to see:
The Las Vegas Strip is a must seen when in Nevada and all its hotels and casinos. The Luxor, Egyptian themed hotel and Casino, in the shape of a pyramid with a sphinx statue outside the Luxor is known for it's sky beam and its obelisk. Paris Las Vegas hotel and Casino is themed after the city of the same name in France, it is known for its replicas of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. Bellagio Las Vegas resort and casino is probably the most well known place in Las Vegas. It's fountain has been featured in a number of movies such as Rush Hour 2, Oceans Eleven, Bolt Oceans Thirteen, and The Hangover. Caesars Palace Las Vegas is a Roman Empire themed hotel that is famous for its six towers: Augustus, Centurion, Roman, Palace, Octavius, and Forum, it is also known for hosting the World Series of Poker Circuit Event. California Hotel and Casino, or ''The Cal'' is a Hawaiian themed hotel that is known for its Hawaiian buffet and it's more laid back atmosphere. Circus Circus Las Vegas is the largest permanent big top in the world. It is known for having daily circus acts and carnival type games. Linked to the Tropicana and the New York New York, the MGM Grand is know for its pedestrian bridges and it is home to the studio where Drew Carey's Improv-A-Ganza was hosted in 2011. Tourism Las Vegas offers many tours include ones of the Hoover DamGrand Canyon and the Pawn Stars (TV Show) Pawn Shop.

Nevada Wedding #2 - Casino Wedding (Red, Black, and White) Wedding

A ''Casino Wedding'' is exactly what it sounds like, a wedding with the ''Casino Night'' theme. The colour scheme for this theme would be red and white, possibly black also depending what casino game is trying to be highlight. (Green could be added for the 0 and 00 in Roulette, however it may clash with the theme somewhat because red, black and white are all common colours in casino games where green is more specific to Roulette.)

Flowers:
Roses are the most common flower for weddings, especially when one of the colours is red. Red and white roses go well together and are beautiful or a few simple white stephanotis. The groom's boutonniere should always use the same flowers as the bride's.

(Left: Red and White Roses by: Sweet Floral; Right: Red Roses and White Stephanotis by: Fleuriste De Lune)

The Shoes:
Depending on the bride and her height, shoes that go with a short dress will change. With a shorter bride, the dress will hang lower, and a high heel would be fine; with a tall bride a high heel would make the bride's legs look longer which may take away too much from the dress for a wedding, so a flat or smaller heel would be better.

Make up, hair, nails and accessories:
Make up for this wedding is simple, natural with red tinted lips and white eye shadow, or red for the more daring with a little red or pink blush on the cheeks. With a short dress, a short veil is always best, and with a short veil short hair or an up-do works better. A beautiful necklace would be a solitaire Ruby Pendant on 10k white gold by Jewel Ocean, and earrings by Jewels For Me. And every bride needs a garter for her wedding day!

The groom:
The groom is simple to buy for, all he needs is a black suit, and a white shirt, and a tie that matches the theme. Tuxedo Junction is a Las Vegas based company that rents tuxedos and offers color coordination for their ties to the theme of any wedding. Or getting any red tie to match the theme would be perfect. And to finish off the look, any groom and his men should be sporting casino themed cufflinks.

The Invitations:
There are many options when it comes to a specific casino theme: poker, dice, roulette, or simply casino night. Invitations showcasing any game, would work well with this wedding. Mixing and matching games to incorporate all of them into the wedding invitations also would be fine too.

Photographer and Videographer:
Artistic Imaging is highly recommended and does beautiful work. They offer many examples of their work on their website and they not only do photography but they offer videography as well, both for reasonable prices. Depending on where the couple decides to get married, the wedding chapel may offer photography and videography deals of their own, chances are that it would be cheaper to take photos and video from the chapel and than get a photographer and videographer for the reception.

Ceremony:
The best place to hold a casino themed wedding is at a casino hotel. Many Las Vegas Casino and Hotels offer chapels to get married in. If the couple is choosing to go more with a poker theme, they may want to get married at Caesars Palace Las Vegas since it is the only home to the World Series of Poker Circuit Event, however any casino chapel is definitely a perfect place to get married.

The couple can choose any type of ceremony they want, but for this case having a wedding in a casino chapel doesn't have to be a quick, ''get it over with'' ceremony. The bride's maids would need red dresses, the maid of honor's should be a little different from the rest of the women in the wedding party, and the groom's men should have the same shade of red tie as the groom. Flower girls and ring bearers aren't always added to a Vegas wedding but it is easy to incorporate them into any wedding. The flower girl's dress usually is a replica of the bride's dress, just as the ring bearer's suit is a replica of the grooms, however it is not always as easy to match dresses as it is to match tuxedos. Every ring bearer needs a pillow and  flower girl needs a basket, but instead of flowers why not fill it with plastic poker chips for her to walk down the isle with.
When red is part of any wedding, naturally the rings should involve rubies. A ruby ring set in white gold for the bride and a single stone ruby ring for the groom would a great set of rings for the red and white theme of this wedding.

The Reception:
Most hotels offer reception rooms for a couple to have their reception in, by choosing a hotel that has a chapel and a venue can save money and have travelling around the city. Different hotels offer different packages and deal so shopping around for what best suits the couple is a great part of having so many options.

guest book and receiving table is usually traditional for most ''Western'' weddings. Any guest book will do for most weddings but if there is a guest book that matches the theme than it adds a nice touch to the keepsake. Also an important thing not to forget is a pen for the guests to sign in with, again usually when there are themed they come as a set but not always.

Money boxes, or wishing wells, are also a must for weddings. But, table tents and name cards aren't always needed at a wedding, depending of course on the family and the bride and groom. But most couples choose to have name tags to assign setting to avoid any conflict and it is much easier for a sit down meal. Most wedding invitations have identical or similar matching table numbers and name cards but it isn't very hard to do it yourself. For a casino themed wedding, simply getting a pack of jumbo cards and making the hearts suit the table numbers is a great idea (a ten for table ten a queen for table twelve and so on). And the same can be done for place cards also, everyone at table one gets an ace with their name on it, at table two a deuce and so on an they can be held in little place card holders.

Food:
Most hotels have a restaurant or offer catering of some kind going with them is probably the best option and that way there is no butting heads, and it's proven good food since it has to be of high quality to be served to hotel guests. Also when thinking of Las Vegas and food, most people think of buffets so that may be a cheap and easier solution to a catered meal. A great desert for a seated meal would be brownies cut into the shape of a spade or a club with chocolate sauce, ice cream and whip cream. For a buffet style the brownie shapes would be fine, along with cupcakes (red velvet would work well for the red suits of cards), and cookies in suit shapes (hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades) or in the shape of cards or dice.

The Cake:
Cheese cake is a great wedding cake because most people like the cake itself. Leaving out toppings in different flavours (strawberry, cherry, raspberry etc) would insure that everyone gets the kind they want. And cheese cake can also be made into cupcakes if the bride and groom choose to go that way as well. Cheese cake is also so simple to make that anyone can try and make it for the wedding day and it costs less from a bakery because of so little ingredients needed (2 packages (8oz) of cream cheese, 1 tablespoon of butter, 1 cup of sugar, 2 eggs and a splash of vanilla - poured on top of the crust of the couples choice and baked for 20 minutes at 350).

(Wedding cakes by Swens Homemade Cake)

A cake topper for a poker cake is simple. . . the king and queen of hearts. Whether made out of fondant or just two cards up on the cake, it is the best cake topper for a casino night theme. But if the couple wants more of a traditional topper, with a figurine couple, there is also poker themed ones that work well. Coupled with a hearts themed serving set and champagne flutes, the poker theme is complete.

Guest Favours:
For a casino wedding the best guest favours that won't break the budget is playing cardsdice, and/or poker chips in a thank you box. The playing cards can come in a personalized case, dice can easily be bought in bulk and in many different colours, and chips can also easily be found not only in plastic, but chocolate as well. Also certain websites offer customized poker chips with the couples name and plastic cases to hold them in. Also a great added gift could be a die key chain for the guests that they can carry with them. All these things can be held in a nice die box with a thank you ribbon of any colour that matches the wedding theme.

For the wedding party and the parents of the bride and groom special gifts are always a nice gesture from the couple as a thank you. This can be buying the dresses and tuxedos, buying the cufflinks and jewelry or something else. In this case a great gift would be a poker set or a Zeppo lighter with an ace of spades on it for the men, and a charm bracelet or dice salt and pepper shakers for the women.

Centerpieces:
Centerpieces are often the easiest things about a wedding. For this wedding the couple can do it themselves days, weeks, or even months in advance. Below is a picture of a great example for centerpieces and the link leads to step by step instructions on how to make them. Filling them with red and white flowers or red and black, or red, white and black would be perfect. Also if the bride and groom chooses they can add little saucer plates with dice candles around the table to add more glow.

Thank You Cards:
Depending on the invitations, sometimes Thank You cards can match the invitations. Either way Two of a Kind by Magnetstreet is a great option for a casino themed thank you card. But any cards that match the invitations or simply have the same wedding theme concept would be perfectly fine as a thank you note.

The Las Vegas Strip is a must seen when in Nevada and all its hotels and casinos. The Luxor, Egyptian themed hotel and Casino, in the shape of a pyramid with a sphinx statue outside the Luxor is known for it's sky beam and its obelisk. Nevada Wedding #1 - The Lights of Vegas ( The Sign of Vegas) Wedding

A ''Lights Wedding'' would highlight the city and all the beautiful lights and buildings it has to offer. This wedding would be held specifically on The Strip because the whole theme is the glitz and glam of the city. The colour scheme for this theme would be white, ivory, and possibly yellow to symbolize all the glowing lights of the Boulevard. (This wedding can be versatile, another colour can be incorporated in by using small simple things, like dyed baby's breath, or the flower handle, etc.)

Flowers:
Lights are bright so bright colours are always the safest bet for any flower. White, ivory, cream, light peach, yellow are good colours for any flower chosen for the bouquet(s) and boutonniere(s)

(White Calla Lilies, cream and yellow roses by Hibiscus Florals)

The Dress:
Not every Las Vegas wedding calls for a short dress, but it is more widely accepted in ''Sin City'' so now is the time for short dresses. Anything that will shimmer in the light, sway and flow elegantly would work well with a light theme.

The Shoes:
With a short dress, the shoes will be on display and noticeable. For this reason and because of the reflection of the lights shoes with a lot of sparkle and glitz would be the best choice for this wedding. Something that shimmers in the light that the bride is comfortable in would work fine, a heel would be best but any shoe with diamond accents would be just fine.

Make up, hair, nails and accessories:
As with every wedding, staying natural is the best way to go, this wedding is no exception. Getting sparkles, or glitter make up would be an added shimmer under the lights and would work well. Some lip glasses have shimmer and sparkles in it and white eye shadow can also add to the effect. There are also nail possibles that go on clear and add a little glitter to any colour which would be beautiful also for any manicure or pedicure. As for hair, anything shinny would be a perfect accent to a beautiful hairstyle. In this case because the dress is sleeveless a down hair style would work great. When wearing a short dress usually a short veil would be what works best, but in this case because of the long hair, no veil really would go well.

The Groom:
The groom is simple to buy for, all he needs is a black suit, and a white shirt, and a tie that matches the theme. Tuxedo Junction is a Las Vegas based company that rents tuxedos and offers color coordination for their ties to the theme of any wedding. In this case a few different ties could match the theme, a light yellow, a creamoff white, or white/ivory. No matter what tie is chosen the boutonniere should be of the flower(s) from the bride's bouquet. Finally to finish the groom and his groom's men off, cufflinks that are in the shape of the Las Vegas Sign.

The Invitations:
Since ''Las Vegas'' is such a popular theme, it is easy to find Vegas themed invitations. MagnetStreet has a great Welcome to Vegas collection that has a Save the Date cardWedding InvitationsLabelsRSVP Cards, and Direction Cards.

Photographer and Videographer:
Artistic Imaging is highly recommended and does beautiful work. They offer many examples of their work on their website and they not only do photography but they offer videography as well, both for reasonable prices. Depending on where the couple decides to get married, the wedding chapel may offer photography and videography deals of their own, chances are that it would be cheaper to take photos and video from the chapel and than get a photographer and videographer for the reception.\

Ceremony:
Getting married outside, or in a high up room by a window is the best way to highlight the lights of Vegas. Some hotels can offer this, some can't but simply asking around or looking up the information on the internet can find the best place for the couple's needs.

To match the bride, the maid of honor's dress and that of the bride's maids should be short also, but the mother's dresses can be any length the mother of the bride/groom feels comfortable wear. The flower girl's dress should match the bride's usually, however it can also match the theme or the flower girls basket. All the suits should match each others, including the ring bearer's and the ring pillow should closely match the flower girl's basket.

The rings should be as flashy and shinny as the wedding itself. A beautiful ring for both the bride and groom would be from the Trinity Collection by Cartier. Cartier rings are made for both men and women and are of very high quality.

The Reception:
Most hotels offer reception rooms for a couple to have their reception in, by choosing a hotel that has a chapel and a venue can save money and have travelling around the city. Different hotels offer different packages and deal so shopping around for what best suits the couple is a great part of having so many options.

On the recieving table, there should be a guest booka money box, and possibly little thank you gifts, or scrolls (this would be the guest favours), and possibly a picture of the couple. Table tents and place cards are only used when there is a sit down dinner, in this case there won't be any because the lights of Vegas are better observed at night so any wedding showcasing them should be later at night well past a meal time.

The Food:
Since the wedding is bound to last late, a midnight meal should and is usually served for the guests to enjoy. This is mostly salads, sandwiches, cheeses, pickles, and deserts. It's when this is served that the couple can cut their cake and serve it also. (Just because it's called a midnight meal, doesn't mean the food has to wait until midnight to be serve, in most cases it is put out buffet style at 10:30-11:00.)

The Cake:
For a cake that is all about lights and shine, white cupcakes, with a cream frosting and sparkles or glitter as sprinkles could make a beautiful wedding cake. A vanilla cupcake can be made by almost anyone by simply combining 1 1/2 cup of flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon baking soda to 1 cup butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2 eggs, and a cup of milk. The cupcakes bake at 375 for 20 minutes. Once done and cooled, score an ''X'' in the middle or carve out a cone shape, and add in any fruit jam, jelly, or custard. Frost with a buttercream frosting (1 cup of butter, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, 4 tablespoons milk, 4 cups of sugar.)

The cake topper can either sit on the top shelf of any cupcake display or a small cake can be made especially for the topper itself to sit on. Either way a great topper would be something that matches the theme, and what better than a glass topper in graved with the Las Vegas Sign. Las Vegas is a popular wedding theme and the sign is very famous and is used often for weddings. Finding matching champagne flutescake serving sets, and even a matching garter is no challenge at all.

Guest Favours:
Since for this wedding there is no sit down meal, the guest favours should be in a basket or decorative box at the door so each guest can take one as they walk in. This can be anything for simple thank you notes or scrolls, magnets, CDs, candies or anything the couple chooses to leave. A great option would be post cards of the city lights or anything small that can fit into themed guest boxes or sheer favour bags.

For the wedding party a great gift is a photo to commemorate the event. The photo below can be customized to say anything at all, it can say Best Man with his name, Maid of Honor with her name or the parents of the bride and groom with their titles on it.

Centerpiece:
Flower and water centerpieces are always very popular so coupling them together as one is a great idea and makes an amazing centerpiece. By simply gluing any flower (real or fake) to a rock or something similar that will sink, any flower can be submerged in water, also adding plastic waterproof candles can make the centerpieces more luminous and by adding sparkling water, or any clear soda would make bubbles in the water and attach to the flower

Thank You Cards:
Most invitation sets from Magnetstreet has matching Thank You cards. Any Thank You card will do, but in cases when a couple can get the matching ones, why not go for it.
