California Wedding #3 - 50th Wedding Anniversary (Gold) Wedding

California is nicknamed the Golden State, and it is a perfect place to celebrate a Golden Anniversary. Whether renewing wedding vows or taking them for the first time, a Gold themed wedding is beautiful choice to go with.

Weddings

The Flowers:
There are no gold coloured flowers, but any flowers can be spray painted or tinted. The perfect option for this is white flowers with stray painted gold tips. The gold won't be too overwhelming but it will still be there and they are great for both an anniversary and wedding because the white is included.

The Dress:
For a 50th anniversary a gold dress would be a perfect options and probably more practical over a white dress. A gold dress could be fine for a wedding also but more traditionally a dress with at least some white in it is for weddings. A beautiful choice for a golden dress is the Jovani 9681 and for the white wedding dress a perfect choice would be the Alexia Wedding Dress AIWD0002.

The Shoes:
With both dresses being floor length the shoes probably won't be seen that much but it's still a nice touch to have and it is something that can complete the bride's look. California is a warm state most of the year so sandals are the best choice for any wedding and the Kristin Shoes by Alisha Hill are a great choice to finish off the bride's outfit.

Hair, Nails and Accessories:
Both the dresses above are strapless so with both the better option would be to have a down hair style. With an up hair style it highlights how much of the chest and shoulders are exposed. Some woman have their traditional nail colours or types, french nails would be perfect for this wedding with a line of gold or glitter gold would be nice too for a more brave bride. A beautiful necklace for this wedding would be the California State Pendant, it is in the shape of the state and it can be personalized and it comes in gold.

Invitations:
For a golden anniversary obviously the invitations should be gold, for a wedding themed around gold the couple doesn't really want the gold to over power the whole message. In either case, the invitations below are a great choice. They are an off-white/creamy colour with gold edges and a bow that adds the perfect amount of colour but doesn't overpower the whole thing.

Photographer and Videographer:
An amazing wedding photographer would be Lumitone. There are a few examples of photos and videos on their website. Depending on the couple, if they are from California they may know of other photographers and may want to go with them.

Golden Wedding Reception
Ceremony:
Even though this is a gold wedding and not one centered around wine, Vintage Inn is still a beautiful place to get married and have a reception at. The luxury resort in Napa Valley has grounds that are absolutely breath taking and they have everything the couple needs right there. They cater and have an amazing menu with great food.

The Rings:
For a gold wedding, there has to be gold rings, especially for a 50th wedding anniversary. Wedding rings don't have to match the theme usually but because this wedding is gold it would be nice and almost a must to have gold rings. However there are white gold rings, and rose gold rings if the couple is more including to those than the pure gold ones.

The Reception:
If the couple decides to take pictures right after their ceremony, usually light finger foods are served while the guests wait for the couple to arrive. This is usually cheese and crackers, shrimps and sauce, vegetables and dip, and other light things in a buffet style. Or they have waiters walking around with one or two different amuse bouche (bite sized hors d'oeuvres). Great options are Rolled Smoked Salmon, and Seared Scallop with Horseradish on a sliced Cucumber.

If the couple chooses to have a big wedding the best guest book that matches the theme and would fit a lot of signatures would be a traditional gold guest book. Guest books are usually chosen because of how many signatures it can hold. For a smaller wedding, than there are unique Guest Signature things that aren't books but they don't hold as many signatures.

 The Food:
For any anniversary the best meal to serve is the one the couple had on their wedding day. It's special to them and it will bring back memories of all their anniversaries before. For a couple just deciding to get married and using gold as their theme the meal should be something they enjoy but something they think the majority of their guests will enjoy too.
A great way to start off this meal would be with a Grilled Shrimp and Spinach Salad, this would pair well with a Savignon Blanc one of the white wine that Napa Valley is famous for. Keeping with the same white wine a good main course meal would be a Lemon Butter Chicken and for dessert a Strawberry Stuffed Cupcake.

The Cake:
With this wedding, the whole theme has been gold but white has been there also so that the gold doesn't over take everything, especially for a wedding. This cake is a perfect Gold and Ivory Cake, where the gold is on display and but the white is the main colour. A chocolate cake would be a great flavour for this wedding and a Triple Layer Chocolate Cake would be amazing. The perfect cake serving set for this wedding is the Linked Heart Gold Serving Set and for a topper the traditional couple works well or for a 50th anniversary a number topper would be perfect also.

The Centerpieces:
A great idea for a centerpiece for this wedding would be a nice tall candle in a tall vase with gold sand at the bottle to steady the candle. The couple can choose to make the centerpieces themselves by buying the materials, most dollar stores would sell what is needed, and they could also get the vases in graved to say whatever they want.

Guest Favours:
A great option for guest favours is always something useful and a beautiful keepsake. Photo coasters are a perfect guest favour because they can be personalized and useful. The guests can put their own pictures in theme or pictures from the wedding if they choose and they are perfect to leave in the living room and to use.

Thank You Cards:
Thank You Cards don't always have to match the invitations, sometimes the invitations don't come with matching Thank You cards, and sometimes the bride and groom decide to send pictures from their wedding or honeymoon as a thank you instead. The picture thank you cards are always a nice personal touch but sometimes the bride and groom like to write a little message in their card and choose to send both.

Things to See:
Napa Valley, touring around all the different vineyards and sampling all the wine, is a must see especially if the couple decided to have their ceremony and reception in Napa Valley. Other great must sees are The Huntington Library and Garden, Lake Tahoe, Newport Beach, Mount Whitney, Hearts Castle, and The Queen Mary. More famous places in California would the TCL Chinese Theater, the Santa Monica Pier, Santa Cruz Beach and the Boardwalk there, Golden Gate Bridge and Golden Gate Park, and of course Alcatraz Island home to the famous prison.
